What Is Glutathione?
Glutathione (GSH) is a very small molecule that is found in every cell in the body. It is said to be the most important antioxidant because it is within the cell itself, which is the best position to neutralize free radicals. Its potential benefit is widespread since it can be found in every type of cell, including the cells in the immune system. It’s not only an antioxidant; it also boosts the immune system and is a detoxifier.

Glutathione occurs naturally many fresh fruits and vegetables, along with other antioxidants such as, Vitamin C, E, A, lycopene, and beta-carotene. However, a healthy intake of these foods does not necessarily supply the amount of antioxidants needed to prevent disease and repair damaged cells.

Research has shown that glutathione can potentially fight almost any disease, especially those associated with the aging process. If glutathione (GSH) is not present when the free radicals chain begins, aging and disease accelerates. When high levels of GSH are present the damage caused by free radicals is minimized. Scientist refers to GSH as the “master antioxidant” since it also recycles vitamin C and vitamin E, providing continuous protection.

What Are the Risk?
Overall, glutathione (GSH) is safe in reasonable amounts. People who are allergic to milk protein and those who have received an organ transplant should avoid GSH. Patients who are undergoing immunosuppressive therapy should consult their health care professional before taking GSH.
